All hell broke loose for the passengers of Singapore airlines flying from London to Singapore yesterday, when the flight encountered a severe turbulence, which killed one and gravely injured nearly 31 others.
The airline was travelling at a height of 37,000 feet, when the flight tracking data shows the plane plunged rapidly before climbing several hundred feet up, then repeated the pattern for about 90 seconds. The Boeing 777-300ER, carrying 211 passengers and 18 crew members, was forced to make an emergency landing in Bangkok. Reportedly, the turbulence occurred while the cabin crew was serving breakfast.
Singapore’s Ministry of Transport is investigating the incident. The ministry said it was in touch with its Thai counterparts and would be sending investigators to Bangkok. The US National Transportation Safety Board is also sending personnel to Singapore to help the probe.
