North Sulawesi, Indonesia: In a major accident, a passenger ferry caught fire off the coast of North Sulawesi in Indonesia on Sunday. Videos from the accident site show chaotic scenes as many passengers are seen screaming and jumping out of the ship into the sea to escape the flames and burning.

Multiple casualties are feared, and the authorities are yet to release an official casualty report regarding the accident. Authorities have stated that several passengers have been rescued. As per a report by Xinhua, at least 3 have been killed and around 150 have been rescued so far.

The video doing round on social media shows terrified people on the board the vessel jumping out of the doomed vessel to escape the fire. Parents carrying kids reportedly remained on the ship. Along with the rescue team, local fishermen have also joined the efforts.

 

The vessel, the Gregorius Barcelona V, was sailing off the coast of North Sulawesi, Indonesia when it caught fire. Parents carrying kids remained on the ship. It’s not yet known if anyone has been killed.
