As the Maersk vessel reportedly met with an accident at Mombasa port in Kenya, the shipping and logistics company has issued a customer advisory confirming that all the crews in the vessel are safe. The advisory said that the vessel E5K KYPARISSIA 408N was involved in an accident with U7U CELSIUS BRICKELL 408E on February 21 at the port of Mombasa. The company is one of the major cargo shippers in the world.
The company further informed that its team have been assessing the situation on the ground to determine the impact. “We shall notify you of any changes in the expected departure of the vessels that may affect your shipments,” the advisory said.
The advisory further asked the customers to reach out to their local Maersk customer service representatives to check the local information and schedules for further details.
The shipping company’s vessels were attacked in the Red Sea last year in the ongoing Houthi attacks targeting ships heading to Israel. Maersk ships had suffered a few attacks from the group, forcing the company to pause their voyage through the Red Sea. There were also reports regarding the company’s alleged safe passage deal with Houthis but the company had denied these reports.
