Renowned for the architectural extravaganza, the Dubai city adding on to its development plan, revealed the updated names of 28 areas across Dubai.

Dubai’s iconic neighbourhood Sheikh Zayed Road has undergone a significant name change. It is now named after world’s tallest building situated in Dubai, Burj Khalifa. The 830-meter-long building, the prominent landmark in the bustling Emirate, recently celebrated its 14th anniversary.

The road which was previously known as Defence road, later after its expansion, the name was changed by the Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Ruler of Dubai at the time to Sheikh Zayed Road. The road was named after the then president of the United Arab Emirates.

As per time out Dubai report, the name of the road will remain same, while the namesake area will share the name of emirate’s well-known landmark.

The Burj Khalifa neighbourhood is known for its strategic location, offering proximity to key landmarks such as Downtown, Business Bay, JLT, and Dubai marina. It has emerged as the sought-after destination in Dubai’s dynamic real estate landscape.

The new street names will be aimed towards recognizing the emirate’s heritage and identity. This initiative seeks to streamline government coordination among various departments that regulate and legislate the local real estate sector, reports Gulf News.

As per the report, the 28 neighbourhoods have seen significant and rapid increase in construction activities in recent years. The architectural growth in the area includes a variety of projects, including integrated complexes, high-rise towers, and vertical buildings, significantly contributing to broader development expansion in the emirate.

Other notable changes include Sports City and Sports City First, which now will be known as Al Hebiah Fourth and Al Hebiah Second.
