The Qatari Foreign Ministry on Saturday announced that the evacuation procedures for the Qatar Residency Permit holders from the war-torn Gaza Strip are entirely free of charge. The Ministry ensured that the procedures were handled exclusively by the ministry itself in a clear and transparent basis.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar issued an official statement and warned against dealing with any party or individual that do not represent it. The Ministry noted that some individuals are illegally attempting to exploit the worst of humanitarian condition in Gaza. The officials also put an alert on those who are benefitting the condition – as they would face an appropriate legal action.

The Ministry highlighted that it reserved its right to take necessary legal action against “any party or individual that claim to provide any service on behalf of the State of Qatar or any entity affiliated with it”. The statement also explains how the ministry carries out the evacuation process from Gaza.

The process requires civilians to send certain documents to the email mofa.evreq@mofa.gov.qa. The valid documents which are required for the verification are:

  • A copy of passport
  • A copy of Qatar Residency Permit/ Identity Card
  • A phone number of a family member in Qatar
  • A phone number to contact the Qatar resident stranded in Gaza.

A humanitarian truce had been announced in Gaza from 7am local time on Friday. The ceasefire will extend to four days and was brokered by Qatar, between Israel and Hamas militant group. On Saturday, Hamas released 17 hostages including 13 Israelis from Gaza. In exchanges 39 Palestinians prisoners were freed by Israel.

The war began after the Hamas militant group burst out an attack across the Israeli borders on October 7. In the attack, at least 1,200 were killed and hundred were taken hostage by Hamas. In Gaza, more than 13,000 people were died after Israel started counter-attacking the Strip with the US aided artilleries.
