Increase In Number Of Visitors To Qatar, Rise By 91.4 Percent, Says Monthly Statistics

The Planning and Statistics Authority has released Qatar’s Monthly Statistics Bulletin.

91.4 percent annual increase in the number of visitors to Qatar has been recorded. Qatar’s Monthly Statistics Bulletin has released data on its economic indicators.

The total number of visitors to Qatar was about 288 thousand, which is a monthly increase of 2.1 percent compared to June 2023 and an annual increase of 91.4 percent compared to last year July 2022. The highest number of visitors, which was 47 percent was from the GCC countries.The highest percentage of visitors were by air, which stood at 58 percent of the total number of visitors, Qatar News Agency reported.

A prominent change noted in July 2023 statistics was the increasing number of ships arriving at Qatar ports. There was a monthly increase of 5.1 by an average in comparison to June, while the total net tonnage of the ships went up by 3.7 percent.

For July 2023, in the banking sector, the total broad money, M2, was about 684 Billion Qatari Riyals, which showed an annual increase of 1.3 percent in comparison to July 2022. Cash equivalents which includes commercial bank deposits, recorded 928 Billion Qatari Riyals for July 2023. This is an annual decrease of 3.8 percent, in comparison to approximately 965 Billion Qatari Riyals in July 2022.

In July 2023, the total number of new vehicles registered were 5657, this registered a monthly decline of 14.2 percent and an annual decline of 2.9 percent. The traffic accident cases (without accounting the accidents without injuries), declined on the monthly and annual basis with the total traffic cases at 595 traffic cases for July 2023, with a monthly decrease of 3.9 percent and an annual decrease of 14.3 percent.

Most traffic accident were light injuries which accounted for 93 percent while severe injuries stood at 5 percent for the same month. The number of deaths were 13, which is equivalent to 2 percent of total traffic accident cases.

An increase has been noted in the use of monthly rate of electricity by 10 percent in when compared to June 2023, while the total electricity generated have increased at a monthly rate of 9.7 percent.

The demographic statistics showed a slight increase in the total population of Qatar from 2.658 million in July 2022 to 2.704 million in June 2023, which is at an annual rate of change of 1.72 percent and it has shown a 1.8 percent decrease as compared to June 2023.

As per the Vital statistics, June 2023 registered 2211 live births. There is a total decrease in the total live births in Qatar by 2.4 percent, comparing to the last month. On deaths, 218 deaths were recorded in the same time period; with 17.2 percent increase in comparison to June 2023.

The Social Security statements recorded a monthly increase of 2.4 percent of the value of social security and for the number of beneficiaries, the monthly increase was 0.7 percent. Social security statements in July 2023 recorded 81 million Qatari Riyals, for 14515 beneficiaries.

On the data for building permits issued, the total number of permits recorded 634 in July 2023, which is a monthly decrease of 1.1 percent and a 15.3 percent annual increase.
