The Consulate General of India in Dubai, in collaboration with the Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre (KMCC) and Edapt Learning Technologies, has launched a multilingual Digital Literacy Programme aimed at empowering Indian workers. This initiative, supported by KMCC as part of its corporate social responsibility efforts, will be academically guided by Edapt Learning Technologies.

The programme seeks to improve digital literacy among thousands of Indian workers in Dubai, helping them safeguard against cyber fraud while adapting to an increasingly digital world. Over the first year, at least 5,000 workers will be trained in basic digital skills, cyber awareness, fraud detection, and advanced technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Conducted over an eight-week period, the training will feature live online sessions allowing real-time interaction with instructors. Participants will learn safe internet navigation, fraud detection techniques, and secure online transaction management, along with an introduction to AI-driven tools. Upon successful completion, participants will receive certificates jointly issued by the Consulate General of India and Edapt Learning Technologies, enhancing their employability.

Additionally, Dubai National Insurance (DNI), in collaboration with Nexus Insurance Brokers LLC, has introduced a Group Protection Insurance plan for blue-collar workers and other employees. The policy, effective from 1 April 2025, includes coverage for death (natural and accidental), permanent total disability (PTD), and permanent partial disability (PPD) due to accidents. It also provides repatriation expenses up to AED 12,000 per employee. The sum assured under the plan is AED 35,000 per person, with an annual premium of AED 32.

These initiatives reflect the Consulate General of India’s commitment to enhancing the welfare of Indian workers in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. Employers are encouraged to adopt these measures to ensure financial security for workers and their families.

Edapt, founded by Umer Abdussalam, is a global EdTech leader focused on technology education. With a presence in over 20 countries and a user base exceeding 400,000, Edapt’s innovative programmes, such as Hello AI and the Technology Leadership Program (TLP), are transforming digital learning.

The Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre (KMCC), established in 1981, is a charitable and volunteer organisation for expatriates from Kerala, and continues to support the welfare of the Indian community abroad.
