Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi Urges India to Use "all its capacities" to End War in Gaza

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has urged India to use “all its capacities” to end the war in Gaza. In a telephonic conversation with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Raisi demanded India”s intervention in the issue, seeing India as an inspiration as the country was able to survive West’s Colonial atrocities and as a founding member of the non-aligned movement (NAM).

“Today, India is expected to use all its capacities to end the Zionist crimes against the oppressed people of Gaza,” a statement read. The Iranian President also assured Tehran”s support to constitute global collaborative efforts to urge Israel to cease fire, end blockade and provide staples to Gazans.

“The continuation of the killing of the Palestinian people has infuriated all the free nations of the world and this killing will have extra-regional consequences,” Raisi said, as per the release.

Confirming that PM Modi has held a telephonic conversation with Raisi, the Prime Minister”s office raised deep concerns over terrorist incidents, violence and loss of civilian lives, and reiterated India”s “longstanding and consistent position on the Israel-Palestine issue”.

“Both the leaders expressed emphasised on the need for preventing escalation, ensuring continued humanitarian aid and early restoration of peace and stability,” the release said.

According to the report, Prime Minister Modi”s intervention in this matter is prevailing as he consults with world leaders on possible solutions. Last week, PM Modi held conversations with UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and shared deep concerns over terrorism, the deteriorating security scenario and the loss of civilian lives in the region.

“Had a good conversation with my brother HH @MohamedBinZayed, President of UAE, on the West Asia situation. We share deep concerns at the terrorism, deteriorating security situation and loss of civilian lives,” Modi said.

“We agree on the need for early resolution of the security and humanitarian situation and that a durable regional peace, security and stability is in everyone’s interest,” Modi added.

However, Israel”s unhindered assault on Gaza is continuing, taking a toll on civilians” lives. The war started with a surprise attack on Israel by Hamas, killing thousands of Israelis and taking hostages. Israel retaliated by launching a ferocious war against Gaza, which caused the deaths of more than 10,000 Palestinians, the majority of them women and children.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Monday acknowledged that Israel has clearly violated the rules by targeting civilians. Israel is also hindering the supply of essential goods to Palestinians.
