Mujahid Ismail Haniyeh, the political chief of the Palestine Resistance Movement has been assassinated in Tehran, Iran. Haniyeh and one of his bodyguards were killed after the building where they stayed was struck.
The Public Relations Department of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) announced, “Dr. Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas’ Political Bureau, and one of his bodyguards were martyred as a result of being hit at their residence in Tehran”.
Hamas issued a statement and said that Haniyeh had been martyred by the Zionists in the Iranian capital Tehran. “Mujahid Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of the movement, was martyred after attending the inauguration ceremony of the new president of Iran as a result of a treacherous raid by the Zionists on his residence in Tehran”, said Hamas.

“The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas mourns to our great Palestinian people, to the Arab and Islamic nation, and to all the free people of the world: Brother, leader, martyr, Mujahid Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the movement, who was killed in a treacherous Zionist raid on his residence in Tehran,” Hamas said.
Musa Abu Marzouq, a member of Hamas’ Political Bureau, in response to the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh that the assassination of Commander Ismail Haniyeh was a cowardly act and attack would not go unanswered.
Israel remined silent so far, as reprotedly PM Bejamin Netanyahu had ordered cabinet ministers to not to comment. Far-right Heritage Minister Amihai Elihayu, celebrated the death of Hamas leader on social media platform X. The killing makes the world a little better, he wrote in Hebrew.
Israel launced a war in Gaza and at least 39,400 Palestininas have been killed so far with 90,996 injured.
