Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh has been assassinated in Tehran, Iran. The Palestine resistance group mourned the death of Haniyeh. The Hamas chief was killed at his residence in Tehran, Iran. In the incident, he and his bodyguard were killed. Haniyeh had been the tough-talking face of the Palestine group’s diplomacy.
In May International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant against him along the Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, for alleged war crimes. Haniyeh moved between Turkey and Qatar’s capital Doha escaping the travel curbs of the blockaded Gaza Strip and enabling him to negotiate the ceasefire.
So far, over 40,000 people have been reportedly killed in the Israel-Hamas war since Oct 7, 2023 attack on Israel.
