
Israel Attacks Iran: Revolutionary Guards Chief Hossein Salami Dead
Israel Attack Iran: Israel on early Friday launched airstrikes on Iran’s capital, Tehran, targeting Iranian nuclear and military sites. Termed as ‘Operation Rising Lion’, the attack came amid escalating tensions regarding Iran’s nuclear programme.
Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel has targeted Iran’s main enrichment facility, nuclear scientists and ballistic missile programme. In a video statement, Netanyahu stated that strikes on Iran was “very successful.”

“We carried out a very successful opening strike, and with God’s help, we will achieve much more,” he said.
According to the AFP, Israel has killed Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Commander Hossein Salami in the attack. During the strikes, Senior Revolutionary Guards commander Gholam Ali Rashid and top nuclear scientists were also killed, state media reports.
Reacting to the attack, Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei said Israel has ‘unleashed its wicked and bloody hand’ in a crime against Iran, Reuters reports.
Defence Minister Israel Katz acknowledged the attack and warned of retaliation. “Following the preemptive strike by the State of Israel against Iran, a missile and UAV (drone) attack against the State of Israel and its civilian population is expected in the immediate timeframe,” Minister said in a statement.

Following the attack, Iraq closed its airspace and suspended air traffic across the country, state media reports. Meanwhile, expecting a missile and drone attack, Israel has also declared a state of emergency.
Washington was not involved in the strikes, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said.
