Sanaa, Yemen: Yemen came under severe tripartite bombing launched by US, UK, and Israel on January 10th. The bombing also hit an area in capital city Sanaa, where a massive civilian demonstration was taking place. Reportedly, eleven air raids hit the Yemeni capital Sanaa, including the vicinity of Al-Sabeen Square, where around one million people were taking part in a weekly pro-Palestine march.

The Harf Sufyan District was hit by 12 airstrikes in the Amran Governorate of northern Yemen, while six hit the Hodeidah port west of the country. One strike also targeted the Ras Issa port north of Hodeidah. The main power station in Haziz, south of Sanaa, was struck as well, as per media report.

Israel’s Broadcasting Corporation (KAN) reported that this is the first joint US-British-Israel attack against Yemen. More than 20 fighter jets took part in the attack, according to Israel’s Yedioth Ahronoth.

The attacks coincided with a statement by the Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF), announcing drone and missile attacks on the USS Harry Truman Aircraft carrier and other US warships near the Red Sea. It also announced targeting the Tel Aviv area with three drones, which Israel said were shot down on Thursday night.

According to Israeli news outlet Channel 12, the strikes against Yemen on Friday were not a response to the drone attacks but rather “a large-scale attack that was planned in advance, as part of a change in Israel’s policy towards Yemen”.

US and UK have bolstered its attack against Yemen which they claims to be an attempt to Houthis, the Yemeni militant group from continuing its attack against Israel-linked commercial ships passing through Red Sea.

Israel has recently launched large-scale attacks on the country and has vowed to continue its campaign in response to direct Yemeni drone and missile attacks against Tel Aviv and other areas in Israel. Israeli officials have made threats against Yemeni leadership recently. Sanaa’s security forces announced this week that they foiled a UK–Saudi espionage plot aimed at gathering intelligence on military targets and state leaders in the country, reported The Cradle.

The Houthis pledged their solidarity with the Palestinians and Gaza resistance group Hamas. The militia group vowed that they will not stop attacking the commercial ships passing through Red Sea until Isreal stopped its attack against Gaza.
