"It Is Warmer Here"; Netanyahu's Senior Advisor Defends IDF Stripping The Detained Civilians

Amidst the apocalyptic bombing on the tiny coastal enclave of Gaza, Netanyahu’s force is mass detaining civilians from the Gaza Strip while they were evacuating. Those detained were forced to undress themselves and kneel down with their heads down and eyes and hands tied. The pictures and video clips of the scenes caused outrage across the globe. Some of the videos were taken by Israeli Defence Force. A senior advisor of Benjamin Netanyahu, Mark Regev defended the controversial video and pictures while talking to Sky News.

He said, “first of all, remember it’s the Middle East and it is warmer here, especially during the day when it is sunny, to be asked to take off your shirt, it might not be pleasant, but it’s not the end of the world”.

He further added that they were looking for suicide bombers who were wearing explosive vests and trying to prevent such scenarios. Mr. Regev said Israel have lists and “intelligence information”.

When asked if the Israel was not breaching the Geneva convention by filming the civilians in “those positions”, Mr. Regev rejected that IDF filmed the video and said that “it’s not official video released by the state of Israel”.

He said those detained were released. When the anchor pressed if they were released and not the members of Hamas, but has been captured and filmed in the way the videos and images showed, and if that was done by IDF, and asked “it that was filmed by IDF, it would be breach of Geneva convention, would it not?”, Netanyahu’s advisor said he is “not aware of that level of international law” and added that he wanted to check it with his legal department to decide whether it is a breach or not”.

The war in Gaza is raging on. With no food, water, electricity, and fuel, the 2.2 million civilians are under a death trap. The occupation force bombed the area they called “safe area”, south of the enclave. Two hospitals from the south and central Gaza received 133 bodies of Palestinian civilians within 24 hours, as said by Gaza Health Ministry.

Since the occupation force re started the aggression on Gaza after the temporary truce, 2,200 Palestinians have been killed since December 1, as per then report. Over 17,700 Palestinians were killed by Israel.
