Known for creating records, Dubai is all set to create yet another milestone with its new metro station. The city will soon be home to the world’s highest metro station, standing at an impressive 74 metres. The new project is part of Dubai’s newly unveiled Dubai Metro Blue Line.
The foundation stone of the dream project was laid by the Crown Prince and Vice President of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. During the ceremony held on Monday, he had approved the architectural design of the flagship Emaar Properties Station.

The project is designed by the American architectural firm Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, whose portfolio includes the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa, Sears Tower in Chicago, and the Olympic Tower in New York.
As a major branding move, Emaar Properties had acquired the naming rights of the signature station. The team had announced during the foundation ceremony, the station would be officially known as Emaar Properties Station for ten years, starting from its inauguration in 2029.
The Blue Line represents a massive Dhs 56 billion investment in the emirate’s infrastructure. Once completed, the line would stretch 30 kilometres with a total of 78 stations. The architecture of the building was inspired by the concept of a “crossing gateway”, aligning seamlessly with the urban identity and forward-looking vision of Dubai.

Yet another, most significant feature of the new line is a 1.3 km bridge over Dubai Creek, the first of its kind in the city’s metro system. The new line will also offer direct connectivity between Dubai International Airport and nine key areas once completed.

As for the interior, Dubai, always bringing in uniqueness and a blend of culture to its projects, had also chosen earthy textures blending in stone, bronze, and glass to embody the city’s identity. The station is well designed to endure the climatic conditions of the emirate as well.
According to the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the Dubai Metro Blue Line is scheduled for 2029.
