
UAE Ranks 21st Globally And 1st In Arab World In 2025 World Happiness Report
As per the UN-sponsored World Happiness Report, released on Thursday to mark the International Day of Happiness, the UAE has ranked ahead of the United States, Germany, and the United Kingdom, securing the 21st position worldwide and 1st in the Arab world. Interestingly, the UAE ranked 19th globally for donating money and 19th for volunteering time but placed 67th in the world for helping a stranger.
The survey also ranked the UAE 12th worldwide in terms of trust, specifically in the belief that a stranger would return a lost wallet, according to the findings published in the World Happiness Report 2025 by Gallup. The report highlighted that the country’s job market, economic conditions, and living standards significantly contributed to the happiness of its citizens.

As part of its policy of dedicating each year to a specific value, the UAE has declared 2025 the “Year of Community.” This initiative aims to strengthen family and community bonds, which play a major role in societal happiness and well-being.
The UAE’s ranking was based on a three-year average of each population’s self-assessed quality of life.
Globally, Finland topped the World Happiness Report for the eighth consecutive year, followed by Denmark, Iceland, Sweden, the Netherlands, Costa Rica, Norway, Israel, Luxembourg, and Mexico.
Meanwhile, Afghanistan, Sierra Leone, Lebanon, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Botswana, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Yemen, Comoros, and Lesotho ranked at the bottom of the report.

Published on Thursday by the Wellbeing Research Centre at the University of Oxford in partnership with Gallup and the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network, the report evaluates various factors—including health, wealth, freedom, generosity, and freedom from corruption—to measure overall happiness across societies based on self-reported assessments from 147 countries.
