"We Will Not Leave Gaza Alone": Pro-Palestine Slogans Echo at Doha’s Grand Mosque

Doha, Qatar – November 17, 2023: As Israel continued its catastrophic assault on Gaza and its infrastructure on Friday, in a powerful display of solidarity, worshippers at Doha”s Grand Mosque passionately voiced their support for Palestine during Friday prayers today. The air resonated with pro-Palestine slogans as congregants, including locals and expatriates, gathered to express their unwavering support for the Palestinian cause.

The solidarity congregation happened in Doha at the same time when the Israeli army has ended its raid of Ibn Sina Hospital complex in the occupied West Bank near Jenin refugee camp and the army claimed that it killed five people in an operation.

Amidst the breathtaking architectural backdrop of the Grand Mosque, impassioned chants of “Free Palestine” and “We will not leave Gaza alone” echoed through the hallowed halls. The demonstration underscored the deep-rooted emotions within the global Muslim community regarding the ongoing conflict in the region.

Grand Mosque, a regular point of congregations in support of Palestinian cause, had witnessed similar sloganeering in the past as well.

The gathering was not limited to Qatar”s citizens alone, as expatriates from various countries joined the demonstration, reflecting the widespread concern and empathy for the plight of the Palestinian people. Many attendees wore traditional Palestinian scarves, symbolizing their solidarity with the cause.

The Qatari government has been vocal in its support for Palestine, both politically and through humanitarian aid. Qatar”s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, has consistently advocated for a just and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and the country has been involved in constructive negotiations with Israel and Hamas for an amicable solution in the current escalation.

Till date, more than 11,000 including 4,000 children have been killed in Israel attacks on Gaza.
