Another earthquake shakes Afghanistan on Sunday. An earthquake with 6.5 magnitude hit western Afghanistan, the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) said. According to USGS, the quake sprawled around 6.3 km, as per BBC. This is the third earthquake happening in the country within a week. So far, no casualties were reported.
On 10th of October, Afghanistan lost more than thousands of its population in the earthquake that hit the region and another earthquake struck the country on the very next day itself. And more than 90 percentage of those died were children and women as said by UNICEF. The quake was of 6.3 magnitude and was hit at Herat province, in Zindajan, a rural city.
EMSC says the quake could be destructive like the last one. The country is facing a worst scenario as it is only reeling from the deadly earthquake from last week. With economy crisis and the on going war between Palestine and Israel, the situation appears to be gravely concerning. little global attention seems to cause trouble in arranging the required aid to the rapidly increasing humanitarian crisis in the country. Afghanistan is prone to earthquake, especially the mountain region of Hindu Kush, as it is near to the junction of Indian Tectonic Plates and Eurasian.
