At 92, Media Tycoon Rupert Murdoch Gets Engaged For Sixth Time (X image @ bpdabhi96)
Sky News founder and former Fox and News Corp chairman, Rupert Murdoch, is engaged once again at the age of 92. Murdoch is planning to marry his girlfriend Elena Zhukova. The wedding will take place at Murdoch’s estate and vineyard at California. The 67-year-old Zhukova is a retired molecular biologist, and is from Moscow. Reportedly, the couple has been dating for several months.
As per reports from New York Times, which breaks the story, the wedding will take place in June and invitations have already been sent out. Reportedly, the Australian born Murdoch has started to date the Russian biologist soon after his engagement with ex-police chaplain Ann Lesley Smith of Sans Francisco was called off abruptly in April last year. It was said that the Murdoch and Zhukova met at a party hosted by one of the Media tycoon’s ex-wives, Wendi Deng, a Chinese born entrepreneur.
Murdoch’s former spouses were, Australian flight attendant, Patricia Booker, with whom he had a daughter, they got divorced in 1966. His second wife was a Scottish-born journalist Anna Mann. He had three children with her, and got divorced in 1999. His third wife was Deng, with who he had two daughters. The couple got divorced in 2014, after 14 years of marriage. His fourth wife was US model and actress Jerri Hall. Their divorce happened in August 2022. Zhukova was earlier married to Alexander Zhukov, a Russian oil billionaire.
Rupert Murdoch started his career in 1950s from Australia. He bought the News of the World and The Sun newspaper in UK during 1969. Later, he bought number of US publications including the New York Post and Wall Street Journal.
Murdoch launched Fox News in 1996. Fox News is one of the most watched TV news channels in US today. He remained the owner of hundreds of local, national and international media outlets, through News Corp, which was founded in 2013.
In last September, he announced about stepping down from leading role in his media empire by handing over the reigns to his son Lachlan. He then took up the role Chairman Emeritus of both Fox and News Corp. According to New York Times, Murdoch’s marriage with Zhukova is less likely to affect his businesses, as they are now held in trust by his four eldest children.
