
Austria School Shooting: At Least 10 Killed, Several Seriously Injured
Graz, Australia: In a heartbreaking incident, a secondary school in the Austrian city of Graz witnessed a tragic gun shooting incident, killing at least 10 people, which included minor students and one adult. The suspected shooter was among the fatalities in the attack, according to the mayor of Graz, Elke Kahr, quotes BBC.
The deadliest in Austria’s postwar history, the attack has left people in panic as a gunman opened fire in two classrooms. Students and staff were immediately evacuated from the BORG Dreierschützengasse high school in Graz, and the building was thoroughly searched and secured.

As per the report citing police, the perpetrator appeared to have been a former student at the school who turned his weapon on himself before opening fire at students. Police have cordoned off the area around the school, and public transport was diverted, with all streets surrounding the school guarded by armed officers.
The identity of the suspect and the motive behind the cruelty is yet to be found out. Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker called the shooting a “national tragedy”, lamenting that there are no words for the pain and grief the country is feeling now.

Reacting to the incident, the Vienna mayor, Michael Ludwig, posted on social media urging people to stand together as a society. “Hate and violence must never gain the upper hand. Our response to this must be an even stronger commitment to solidarity and respect,” he wrote.
