US President Joe Biden in his Oval Office address on last Thursday spoke about the importance of condemning anti-semitism, and islamophobia amid escalating Israel-Hamas conflict. Addressing the nation, he spoke about the death of the six-year-old Palestinian-American boy, Wadea Al-Fayoume, who had been stabbed to death in their home outside of Chicago in an alleged hate crime.
In his primetime speech, Mr Biden talked about Israel-Hamas conflict and Ukraine’s ongoing war against Russia, and presented America”s interest in securing and supporting Isreal and Ukraine. He has also discussed the fear and worry that permeated into Muslim and Jewish communities due to the onset of war.
“Today, Jewish families worried about being targeted in school, wearing symbols of their faith walking down the street, or going out about their daily lives,” he said.
“I know many of you in the Muslim American community or the Arab American community, the Palestinian American community, and so many others are outraged and hurting, saying to yourselves, “Here we go again,” with Islamophobia and distrust we saw after 9/11,” Mr Biden added.
Then he spoke about Wadea”s death, and said that America cannot stand silent when such incident happen. Mr Biden asserted that without any doubt all should condemn anti-semitism and Islamophobia. Adding further, he said that those who are suffering should know that they are being seen, and they are all American.

“We can’t stand by and stand silent when this happens. We must without equivocation, denounce anti-semitism. We must also, without equivocation, denounce Islamophobia. And all of you hurting, I want you to know I see you. You belong. And I want to say this to you: You’re all American. You’re all American,” President Biden posted on X.
Mr Biden travelled to Israel”s Tel Aviv last week and expressed his solidarity for the Jewish state in their conflict with Hamas.
