President Joe Biden landed in Israel on Wednesday marking the difficult diplomatic journey in his presidency. Biden arrived in conflict-laden Tel Aviv and expressed his public show of support for Israel. He has been welcomed by Israeli Prime Minster Benjamin Netanyahu.
Addressing a joint meeting held by Mr Biden and Mr Netanyahu, former said his visit is to make it clear before people of Israel and the world that Unites States stand with them.
He said: “…Terrorist group Hamas has slaughtered over 1300 people…including 31 Americans. They have taken scores of people hostage, including children…”
Continuing further he said Hamas” atrocities makes ISIS look rather rational. “They have committed atrocities that make ISIS look somewhat more rational.”
After the deadly explosion in Gaza hospital, the White House reported that during the visit Mr Biden will raise some “tough questions” in his meetings with Israeli leaders.
It was hours before Biden left Washington, a destructive blast occurred at Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza City killing over 500 people. Regarding the explosion, The White House in a statement released, conveyed that Mr Biden is “outraged and deeply saddened by the explosion at the Al-Ahli Arab hospital in Gaza, and the terrible loss of life that resulted,”
Initially, Biden’s trip planned to meet Arab leaders at Amman, Jordan after Tel Aviv and discuss about humanitarian assistance for Gaza. But distraught over the hospital attack, Jordan”s King Abdullah, Egypt”s President Abdel Fattah El-Sissi and Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas cancelled Mr Biden’s summit.
The militant group, Hamas made a surprise attack on Israel on October 7, and in response Israel entered war. As the war enters 12th day, more than 3000 Palestinians died in Gaza, and nearly 1500 lost their lives in Israel. Besides many more are suffering from injuries and also scores of people are held hostages as well.
