The United States President Joe Biden will travel to Israel on Wednesday to reassert his solidarity with the Jewish country in the escalating war with Hamas. He will also visit Jordan to meet the Arab leadership and is expected to hold a discussion on humanitarian concerns and crisis of the time. Through a post on X (formerly Twitter), the President affirmed his stand as Hamas in not representing the rights of Palestinians but are carrying out a “brutal terrorist attack”.

US State Secretary Antony Blinken also confirmed Mr Biden’s plan of tour and explained that he is “coming…for the region [Israel] and for the world”. According to Blinken, US and Israel have agreed to develop a plan to facilitate humanitarian aid from donor countries and multilateral organizations for the well being of Gaza civilians.

The Gaza strip, as the war enters its 11th day, grows more dire and Israel is reportedly preparing a ground attack to root out Hamas militants and to trace out the hostages taken into custody from Israel on the first day of the war.

Mr Biden’s admiration to Israel is visible from earlier itself, as US pledged military support by sending carriers and artillery. The nation boosted its assistance to Israel, enhanced deployment, and dispatched its second warship to the eastern Mediterranean few days back. And the US navy will primarily focus to establish a strong fencing presence that objects Hezbollah, Iran, Egypt, and others from taking advantage of the situation against Israel.

As civilian casualties are uncontrollably ascending in Gaza, the US President’s visit could be viewed by the Islamist militant-political organisation Hamas as a provocative move.

Antony Blinken is on his six-day visit of the Arabian nations holding discussions to prevent the war from expanding as a broader regional conflict. He also met Israeli President Issac Herzog on Monday and re-announced the US commitment to provide Israel with the assistance it requires to take care of the citizens. The country also positioned its senior diplomat, David Satterfield (former ambassador to Turkey) as the special envoy of Middle East humanitarian issues.
