Iran War Cost: US Loses 45 Reaper Drones, Arsenal Drained, Report Says
Washington DC, United States: The United States has reportedly lost 45 MQ-9 Reaper drones during the conflict with Iran. The US media reported that Iran and its allies downed several drones.
Several aerial military vehicles were damaged in areas around the Strait of Hormuz.
The tax payers would lose over USD 1.3 billion as per the local media reports. The US military had approximately 185 Reapers before the conflict, including 165 operated by the Air Force and 20 by the Marine Corps, based on public budget data and service figures.
Officials clarified that not all Reapers were shot down, some crashed due to a failure of the communication link. According to Lt Gen David Tabor, a senior Air Force officer at the Pentagon, the number of remaining drones had fallen to about 135, adding that he was concerned about the losses and that the Air Force was exploring how to quickly replenish its fleet.
