Kevin McCarthy, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives was ousted by the US Republicans as the infightings escalated. Mr. McCarthy”s removal marks the historical removal of a House Speaker in US.

It was only few days before the party had a narrow escape from the “government shutdown”. With 210 out of 216 votes, this is the first time in history a leader is being removed from the House.

According to report, few of the Republicans said about a planned meeting on October 10th to discuss about the next Speaker. The vote for the next Speaker is scheduled on October 11. Until then, the house will go leaderless for minimum of a week.

Taking to X (formerly twitter), Mr. McCarthy said “It has been an honour to serve” for America. He said he fought for what he believe in and he believed in America.

Mr. McCarthy”s removal was allegedly “led” by Matt Gaetz, who is a far right Republican. He gained himself the title of “McCarthy antagonist”. Mr. Gaetz said “Kevin McCarthy is a creature of swamp”, while talking to reporters who mentioned Mr. Gaetz about people believe him to be  “narcissist”.

According to Mr. Gaetz, “there is nothing selfish about wanting a Speaker of the house who tells the truth”.

And that the Speaker of the House has failed to stand where it actually matters as Washington has to change.

Earlier Mr. McCarthy had asked to “Bring it on” on his social media platform and to that Mr. Gaetz replied that he “Just did”.

Gunthar Eagleman, a political commentator shared a list of reasons why Mr. McCarthy was ousted by calling him a “failure”.

Last week, the Republican run house has brought the US a debt of $31.4 trillion which pushed the government to the cliff edge of shutting down.
