Pictures of French President Emmanuel Macron tightly embracing Amelie Oudea-Castera, his Sports minister, during the opening ceremony of Paris Olympics has gone viral, stirring the social media platforms. Oudea-Castera, 46, is also seen planting a kiss close to Mr Macron’s neck, also 46 years old, said Telegraph. Paris’ Prime Minister, Gabriel Attal, was seen looking the other way as Oudea-Castera embraced the French president.

Netizens compared the pictures with affectionate display to a lover’s embrace. It became a major talking point after French magazine, Madame Figaro carried it first. The magazine called the kiss exchanged by the two “strange” and claimed that Oudea-Castera likes to draw attention to herself.

“I find this photo indecent, it’s not worthy of a president and a minister”, said one user.

“It’s my lover that I’m kissing like this. Embarrassing,” said another.

“Amélie Oudéa-Castéra greedily kissing Macron. At least one who loves her boss, that’s nice to see,” joked one user.

Another user asked “Why is French President Emmanuel Macron making out with his sports minister (and subordinate) Amélie Oudéa-Castéra?”

 

The Paris Olympics kicked off last week. The opening ceremony saw a parade of 7,500 competitors travel down a six-kilometre stretch of the Seine on a flotilla of 85 boats. The opening ceremony of the event has caused controversy for its apparent parody of the ‘Last Supper’.

The event a crew of drag queens and dancers performed.  During the performance, a group of 18, including three familiar Drag Race France queens, struck poses behind what looked like a long table with the Seine River and Eiffel Tower poignantly placed in the background.
