At least 65 Ukrainian prisoners of war on board were killed in Russia’s military plane crash Today (Wednesday). The plane crashed while returning to its airfield in the Belgorod Region. None of the details regarding those on board were verified, BBC reported.

The video shared on social media showed the plane crashing followed by an explosion near the village of Yablonovo, 70km (44 miles) to the north-east of Belgorod, at around 11:00 local time (08:00 GMT).

According to the report, the Ukrainian prisoners were “being transported to Belgorod region for exchange, BBC reports, saying not confirmed. The authorities are examining the circumstances that led to the plane crash and a special military commission has been on their way to the crashed site. As per the local governor, there are no survivors of the plane crash

The speaker of Russia”s lower house of parliament Vyacheslav Volodin accused the Ukraine of shooting down the plane. “They shot their own soldiers in the air. Their own, our pilots, who were carrying out a humanitarian mission, were killed,” Vyacheslav Volodin said. However, Ukraine has not commented on the incident. a senior presidential advisor said that the “time needed to clarify the data.”

Authorities in Ukraine have asked the citizens to refrain from the speculations. According to the experts who saw the video of the plane crash, the plane could possibly be shot down, BBC reported
