Russia Imposes Total Ban On Gasoline Exports To Prevent Domestic Deficit Amid Iran War

Moscow, Russia: Reflecting the global impact of the US-Israeli war on Iran, countries are taking drastic measures to deal with the consequences. While several countries have taken drastic measures, such as cutting commercial gas supplies, shutting down universities and ceasing flight operations, Russia has now imposed a total ban on all exports of gasoline.

The increase in the oil price due to Iran has made the foreign market more attractive to the Russian petroleum producers. However, ahead of the higher seasonal demand, and to prevent the deficit in the domestic market, the Russian government has decided to implement a total ban on all exports of gasoline from April 1.

The ban does not apply to petrol producers under international agreements. Though crude oil and diesel fuel exports have not been banned as of now, they too have been seriously affected by the ongoing war.

The Ukrainian drone attacks on Russia’s refineries and ports may also lead to decreased oil processing and exports.
