Sean Combs And Crypto Fraudster Sam Bankman-Fried Become Cellmate At Brooklyn Jail

Reportedly, Sam Bankman-Fried – crypto fraudster – and rapper Sean Combs are bunking in the same dormitory of a Brooklyn jail. Combs, who is also known as “Diddy”, has been held at Metropolitan Detention Center for almost a week after being denied bail on federal sex trafficking and racketeering charges.

Bankman-Fried has been imprisoned at the same jail since last year. He is serving a 25-year sentence on fraud charges after stealing $8 billion from customers of his FTX crypto exchange.

Reportedly, he funneled money into his crypto-trading fund Alameda Research, venture capital investments, political donations, and used it for personal spending.

Both Combs, and Bankman-Fried are among roughly 20 inmates housed in the area, which is reserved for high-profile defendants, or those who need special security, reported money control.

Other high-profile inmates, like pop singer R. Kelly and sex offender Ghislaine Maxwell —who has ties to Jeffrey Epstein— have previously been held in the same prison.

The jail holds around 1,200 detainees, and has a reputation for tough conditions.

Last week, the rapper’s lawyers called it too “horrific” for a defendant pre-trial. A lawyer for an inmate who died in the jail after a fight this summer once said the prison to be overcrowded and understaffed. The lawyer called the prison “hell on earth”.

Marc Agnifilo, Comb’s lawyer, have since changed course, saying he “can’t say enough good things about the MDC, which has been responsive to our and his needs”, as quoted by the New York Times.

Earlier, Comb has pleaded not guilty of all charges, and his lawyers argued for him to be released on bail, proposing to a judge that he put up a $50 million bond and hire a security team to monitor him at all hours. The judge rejected the proposal and said that he has concern over the rapper attempting to witness tamper, landing him in a special housing unit that often holds high-profile inmates.

Bankman-Fried has been in jail for over a year when his bail was revoked following a judge’s ruling. The Judge observed him to violate conditions of his release. Caroline Ellison, Bankman-Fried’s ex-girlfriend has been sentenced two years of prison for covering up for him.
