
Trump Puts High Tariffs On Asian Countries: Most On Vietnam, Cambodia And SriLanka
Trump has announced high tariffs on Asian countries countries with Cambodia, Vietnam, SriLanka, Bangladesh, Thailand, China bearing the highest brunt. Trump has signed an executive orders on tariffs with a baseline tariff of 10% will go into effect on April 5. The reciprocal tariffs will got into effect on April 9, 2025.
Trump just announced the following Tariffs on Asian countries and a 10% baseline tariff on all others not listed.
China – 34%
Vietnam – 46%
Japan – 24%
Taiwan – 32%
India – 26%
Thailand – 36%
South Korea – 25%
Indonesia – 32%
Malaysia – 24%
Cambodia – 49%
Bangladesh – 37%
Singapore – 10%
Philippines – 17%
Pakistan – 29%
Sri Lanka – 44%

Reprotedly, the high tariffs rate would significantly disrupt the global trade and increase the costs for consumer worldwide. As per the analysts, the wide range of tariffs would impose harm both for importing and exporting countries creating uncertainty in the international markets.
The high reciprocal tariffs on major textile hubs like China, Vietnam, and India signals a trade policy shift under Trump targeting trade deficits. These tariffs could disrupt global textile supply chains with countries like Bangladesh and Cambodia impact heavily.
