The Vice President of Russia’s oil and gas giant Lukoil, Vitaly Robertus, has died of suicide in his office, said media report. According to Euro News, Lukoil said Robertus died on March 12. As per local media reports, Robertus complained about having headache and sought for medicines before going to office. He was later found hanging in his room.

Responding to the news of his death, one of the Telegram users said that Robertus did not leave his office for several hours and did not answer his phone, which made the employees to go check on him in his office. The suer said the top manager was died by suicide of asphyxia (the state of being deprived of oxygen).

Vitaly Robertus is the fourth Lukoil manager and the latest among the long list of business tycoons and billionaires to die under mysterious circumstances since Russia began its invasion on Ukraine in 2022, reported Euro News. Soon after the Russia-Ukraine war started, the private owned company’s board called for an end to the conflict. The company, which is estimated to produce 2 percentage of the world’s crude oil, suffered great loss after US announced sanction on Russia on behalf of Moscow’s was on Kyiv.

Taking to X (formerly twitter), Ukrainian-American economist, Roman Sheremeta asked, “any guesses regarding the cause of the death?”.

Earlier in May 2022, Lukoil’s manager, 43-year-old Alexander Subbotin was found dead in the basement of a house. He was allegedly dead because of the drug-induced heart attack. In September same year, the oil company’s former chairman, 67-year-old Ravil Maganov was found dead after falling from a window at Moscow’s Central Clinical Hospital. In October last year, chairman of Lukoil board, Vladimir Nekrasov, 66, died due too heart failure, as said by the company.
