Lok Sabha Polls 2024: AAP Announces Four More Candidates For Punjab

Edited by Kabani R

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday announced four more candidates for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections in Punjab. With this third list, the party has declared all candidates for the 13 parliamentary seats in the state.

The lates list includes:

Jagdeep Singh Kaka Brar for Ferozpur
Amansher Singh (Shery Kalsi) for Gurdaspur
Pawan Kumar Tinu for Jalandhar(SC)
Ashok Parashar Pappi for Ludhiana

Jagdeep Singh Kaka Brar currently represents the Muktsar Assembly constituency as an MLA. Ashok Parashar is the incumbent AAP MLA from Ludhiana. Similarly, Amansher Singh (Shery Kalsi) is a legislator representing the Batala assembly segment. Pawan Kumar Tinu left Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and joined AAP recently.

In February, AAP had declared that they will field 13 candidates in Punjab and 1 in Chandigarh. While launching election campaign in Punjab, AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal urged people to ensure that party wins all 13 Lok Sabha seats to make the state ‘Rangla’.

The party has taken first mover advantage by announcing its Lok Sabha candidates ahead of other parties. Though AAP and Congress are part of the INDIA alliance, in Punjab they have opted to contest independently. Therefore, Punjab will witness a fierce, multi-faceted poll battle which includes BJP and SAD as well. In last month, the BJP declared that it would go solo in the Lok Sabha elections in Punjab.

The General Elections in Punjab will be held in a single phase on June 1. Among the 13 seats, four are reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC) and the remaining are for unreserved.
