The sexual abuse videos were allegedly leaked right before the Hassan Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka held on April 26 in which Prajwal, the grandson of former prime minister-cum-JDS supremo HD Deve Gowda and the sitting MP, was pitched against Congress’ M Shreyas Patel.

As per the latest update on the case, Karnataka government has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the matter. Before that, the alleged perpetrator has left the country for Germany and Opposition parties are currently questioning the NDA alliance partners in Karnataka and their leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and JDS’s former Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy on the matter. Earlier on Monday, reports broke that a BJP leader from Hassan who was aware about the videos had informed the BJP leadership in December last year.
Earlier, Prajwal’s camp has denied sexual assault allegations and called the videos ‘morphed’.
“Naveen Gowda and others morphed videos and images and circulated them to the voters in the Hassan Lok Sabha segment through pen drives, CDs and WhatsApp to put Prajwal Revanna in bad light. They are asking the people not to vote for him,” said the FIR filed by Poornachandra Tejaswi MG, the election agent of the NDA.
