Shashi Tharoor’s ‘Justice For Sanju Samson’ Post Ahead T20 World Cup Team Announcement

Edited by Hiba Anvar

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has once again extended his support for the RR captain Sanju Samson ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. In his post on X, wrote that there is not enough buzz about the RR captain while he is leading Keeper-batsman in the IPL.

Tharoor slammed the Indian selection committee for repeatedly ignoring Samson for the 20-team mega event. Tharoor shared his view while replying to Harbhajan Singh’s post. Harbhajan has tweeted earlier opining that Sanju Samson should be considered as the first-choice keeper for the Indian team. He further added the young power-packed player should be groomed as the next T20 captain for India after Rohit Sharma in his post.

Agreeing with the former cricketer’s post, the Thiruvananthapuram MP wrote, “Delighted to agree with my fellow MP @harbhajan_singh on both @ybj_19 and @IamSanjuSamson! Have been arguing for years that Sanju has not had the selectoral breaks he deserved. Now he is the leading Keeper-batsman in the @IPL but is still not discussed when the team is debated. Justice for Sanju!”

Currently, Samson is the fifth-highest scorer in the tournament with 314 runs from 8 matches. This was not the first time the Congress leader had come up extending his support to the talented player. Earlier in 2023, Tharoor demanded an explanation from the selectors who did not give Samson a long rope ahead of the 50-over World Cup.

The RR captain’s repeated absence from the World Cup squad has angered many of the cricketing fans. The T20 World Cup is scheduled to begin from June 2 to 29 in the USA and West Indies.
