Former Indian all rounder Irfan Pathan has unveiled his Top 3 Indian players for the upcoming T20 World Cup. The BCCI is expected to announce India’s T20 squad before the end of this month.
As of now, officials have confirmed the spot of Indian captain Rohit Sharma which was announced by BCCI secretary Jay Shah earlier this year. According to former Indian all-rounder choice, India should open with Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal. And he opined that Virat Kohli should bat at No.3 in the 20-team mega event.
The player of the match of 2007 T20 World Cup finals also shut down talks over Kohli’s-rate. He, in his post, drew the comparison with the legendary Chris Gayle whose international strike rate is 137.50 which is nearly equal to that of the former Indian captain (138.15).
Irfan Pathan, in his post, along with the names of the players also included the reason why he has chosen these players.
Irfan Pathan wrote on X, “Now that World Cup is nearing. (Shouldn’t be any question regarding his place or strike rate. His strike rate at the T20I is 138 + Better than Chris Gayle+ 51 avg. N his ipl strike rate this season is 150) Your thoughts ????”.

Currently, Virat holds the Orange Cap as the top run-getter so far in IPL 2024 with 379 runs in eight matches. Rohit comes in the fifth position on the list. Ahead of the IPL matches, there has been speculation that BCCI may leave Virat out of the T20 World Cup squad but it was later ruled out.
The T20 World Cup is scheduled to begin from June 2 to 29 in the USA and West Indies.
