Husqvarna Svartpilen 801: A Landmark In Motorcycle Innovation

Husqvarna has unveiled its latest addition to the global motorcycle market with the debut of the Svartpilen 801. Positioned as the flagship model in Husqvarna”s lineup, the Svartpilen 801 marks a significant milestone for the brand, representing its largest offering yet and introducing a multi-cylinder engine for the first time in a Husqvarna motorcycle.

Mechanically, the Svartpilen 801 shares many similarities with the new-generation KTM Duke 790, including its robust 799cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine. Generating an impressive 103.5 bhp at 9,000 rpm and 87 Nm of peak torque at 8,000 rpm, power is transmitted to the rear wheel through a 6-speed gearbox equipped with a slip-assist clutch and a standard bi-directional quickshifter.

The Svartpilen 801 inherits its tubular chassis from the KTM 790 Duke but distinguishes itself with a fully-adjustable suspension setup from WP-Apex. Rolling on 17-inch alloy wheels fitted with dual-purpose Pirelli MT60RS rubber, the Svartpilen 801 boasts a dry weight of just 181 kg and features a 14-litre fuel tank capacity.

In terms of features, the Svartpilen 801 offers a comprehensive suite of electronic rider aids, including lean-sensitive traction control, switchable rear ABS, cornering ABS, and three ride modes – Street, Sport, and Rain. An optional Dynamic package further enhances capabilities with additional ride modes, anti-wheelie control, cruise control, and Motor Slip regulation. The motorcycle is equipped with features like a 5-inch TFT instrument panel, Bluetooth connectivity with call and text notifications, turn-by-turn navigation, and all-LED illumination.

Visually, the Svartpilen 801 stays true to Husqvarna”s distinctive design language, characterized by integrated tank shrouds, a truncated tail section, an upswept exhaust muffler, and a small flyscreen. Optional accessories such as a headlight grille and bash plate further enhance the rugged aesthetics of the motorcycle.

Priced at USD 10,899 (approximately Rs 9.06 lakh) in the USA, the Svartpilen 801 is set to go on sale next month. Meanwhile, European sales are expected to commence shortly thereafter. However, there are no indications of an imminent launch in the Indian market.

Overall, the debut of the Svartpilen 801 underscores Husqvarna”s commitment to delivering high-performance motorcycles with cutting-edge technology and distinctive design, further solidifying its presence in the global motorcycle arena.
