The Ioniq 9 electric SUV was just presented by Hyundai at the 2024 LA Auto Show. According to insiders, Hyundai’s next flagship SUV, the three-row Ioniq 9, will make its premiere in India on January 17 at the Bharat Mobility event. In the first half of 2025, South Korea and North America will be the first countries to sell the Ioniq 9. Other nations will follow. It is based on the E-GMP modular born-EV platform, which also supports the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the Kia EV9, and a few other automobiles.
The Ioniq 9 is Hyundai’s biggest electric SUV, measuring 5,060mm, and it’s even 45mm longer than the Kia EV9. The Ioniq 9 features an upright tailgate design and an angular shape with rounded edges. Hyundai’s Parametric pixel inserts, which are also seen on the Ioniq 5 EV, are used in its headlights and taillamps. With the option to upgrade to 20- or 21-inch wheels, the Ioniq 9 comes with 19-inch wheels as standard. Up to 16 external and seven interior shade selections are available to customers.
The Ioniq 9 has configurations for six or seven seats. The seats in the first two rows are massage seats, and when the car is not moving, the second row may turn to face the third row. It has a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12-inch digital instrument cluster, and a panoramic sunroof. According to Hyundai, they are curved devices featuring a panoramic display. Additionally, depending on the version, it has various sound systems, numerous 100W USB-C connections in each row, roof-mounted AC vents, and ambient lighting. It is equipped with ten airbags, ADAS with several cameras and sensors, and other standard safety features including ABS and EBD.
With an estimated WLTP range of up to 620 kilometres, the Ioniq 9 is equipped with a 110.3 kWh battery pack. Using a 350kW charger, the SUV can charge from 10% to 80% in 24 minutes thanks to its E-GMP platform. The SUV may be used to power other electrical devices thanks to its 400V and 800V charging capabilities and vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability.
At the very top of Hyundai’s EV lineup, the Ioniq 9 will be showcased to the Indian market as a halo model. We have been informed that there are no plans to launch the Ioniq 9 in India anytime soon, despite the fact that its sister brand Kia has already launched its flagship EV9 there.
Regarding the introduction of new cars and SUVs, Hyundai will display the Creta EV at the Bharat Mobility event. Additionally, sometime next year, the Hyundai Venue compact SUV of the future is expected to be on sale.
