IIT Bombay Racing, a team of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay students, excelled at Formula Bharat 2024, emerging as the overall champions in the Electric Vehicle Category. The team outshone 41 other teams from across India and garnered several accolades at the event, a statement from the pioneer technological institute said.

In the Electric category, the team secured the first place overall and also emerged victorious in Static events, bagging the first place.

In the Cost Event, the statement said, the team came in second place, while in Vehicle Dynamics (VED), they secured the third place. Additionally, the team also received a special award for the best control system.

“The team would like to express their gratitude to the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay for providing them with all the necessary opportunities and facilities to participate in such a competitive event,” the team members said.

The team was led by their Faculty Advisor Prof. Sandeep Anand (Electrical Engineering).

“The team”s victory is a collective achievement and a result of the unwavering support of those who believed in their journey,” IIT Bombay statement said.

IIT Bombay Racing”s victory was fueled by their latest prototype, the “E-13,” which represents a significant advancement in their design. The 260 kg speedster boasts an electronically limited top speed of 150 kmph, featuring an all-carbon fibre monocoque
chassis. The new battery and battery management system developed for the car has been
developed in-house. This innovation marks a significant evolution from their previous
models, demonstrating the team”s relentless pursuit of excellence, the statement said.
