Mahindra Thar Roxx Launched At Rs 12.99 Lakh, Rs1.64 Lakh Higher Than The 3-Door Model

After teasing Thar Roxx, Mahindra has finally announced prices for the Thar Roxx.  With the launch of Mahindra TharRoxx , base MX1 variant gets 10.25-inch touchscreen, 18-inch wheels with entry-level trim getting petrol and diesel engine options. Manual gearbox is only for base variant and the five-door version of the Thar is priced from Rs 12.99 lakh for the entry-level MX1 petrol variant, and from Rs 13.99 lakh for the entry-level diesel variant. Roxx is priced Rs 1.64 lakh higher than the 3-door version as it’s positioned above the compact SUV.

Engine and powertrain

This base variant churns 162hp of power, 330Nm of torque, and is equipped with 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and with a manual gearbox, churning a 152hp of power, 330Nm of torque with 2.2-litre diesel engine.

Thar Roxx is well equipped with LED lighting, a dual-tone exterior finish, 18-inch steel wheels, a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, push button start, driver’s seat height adjustment, 60:40 split folding rear bench seats, rear AC vents and a rear USB-C port. Mahindra has once againgiven priority to safety, and the MX1 variant comes with six airbags, ESC, and three-point seat belts for all passengers.

Exterior Design

Unlike the 3-door Thar, the new grille design of the TharRoxx features six double-stacked slots. The headlamps retain a small circular design, but they now get an LED projector setup with C-shaped Daytime running lamps. The higher variants are expected to get LED fog lamps. The front bumper has some unique design elements as an integrated fog lampand brushed aluminium bits at the centre with top-spec variants are likely to have fog lamps with a cornering function.

The Roxx gets stylish 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels for the higher variants, while mid variants will likely get 18-inch alloys. While the front door looks similar to the standard Thar,the rear door gets a unique handle for opening the rear door. The quarter glass of the rear door has a triangular shape. It also has a dual-tone paint shade for most variants – with a contrast black roof – that will give it a hardtop look with flexible roof. The reprofiled tail-lamps with C-shaped LEDs,and a tailgate design look striking.

Feature rich interior and tech

The Roxx gets the same dashboard as the 3-door Thar, but there are elements like soft-touch materials on the dashboard and door pads, available in the higher variants. The dual-tone theme with beige seats and a dark brown dashboard with some contrast bits make it look attractive in every sense. There are dual 10.25-inch screens for infotainment and instrumentation on top trims to add a sense of style statement.

Those higher variants will get a cooled glovebox with cooledseats for the front row, ambient and footwell lighting. Some key features that were missing in the 3 door Thar like a wireless charging pad, automatic climate control, power windows on all doors, a sliding front armrest, a cooled glove box and remote fuel opening setup has been provided in the 5 door Thar.

The Thar Roxx with the kind of road presence it has is surely going to be a head-turner.
