Mahindra Thar 5-Door: Enhanced Features and Advanced Safety Await

Mahindra is set to launch the highly anticipated Thar 5-door, an off-roader enhanced with premium features from the flagship XUV700. Slated for unveiling on August 15, the Thar 5-door will compete with the Force Gurkha 5-door, Maruti Suzuki Jimny, and even its sibling, the Scorpio N. Here are the expected features of the Thar 5-door:

Mahindra Thar 5-Door: Bigger Infotainment System

The new Thar 5-door will feature a 10.25-inch infotainment system, making it the largest in its segment apart from the Scorpio N. This is a significant upgrade from the current Thar 3-door, which has a 7-inch touchscreen unit. The new system will include navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Mahindra’s connected tech, AdrenoX Connect. This upgrade will enhance the overall user experience by providing more intuitive and advanced connectivity options.

Mahindra Thar 5-Door: All-Digital Instrument Cluster

Following the theme of the new Mahindra vehicles, the Thar 5-door will sport an all-digital driver’s console. Unlike the Scorpio N’s semi-digital instrument cluster, the Thar 5-door will borrow its console from the XUV700. The current Thar 3-door uses traditional twin analogue dials for the rev meter and speedometer with a TFT multi-information display. The shift to a fully digital cluster will provide a more modern and sleek look, enhancing the driver’s experience with more precise and customizable information displays.

Mahindra Thar 5-Door: Airbags

Safety is a major focus for Mahindra, and the new Thar 5-door is expected to come with six airbags as a standard feature, an improvement over the current Thar, which comes with two airbags. The 3-door version has received a 4-star safety rating from Global NCAP, scoring well for both adult and child occupant safety. The addition of more airbags will likely improve the overall safety rating and provide better protection for all passengers in the vehicle.

Mahindra Thar 5-Door: ADAS

Mahindra is also working to equip the new 5-door Thar with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). The XUV700 was the first in its segment to introduce Level 2 ADAS, and the same suite is expected to be available with the new Thar. This includes Smart Pilot Assist, Forward Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Traffic Sign Recognition. These features will significantly enhance the safety and convenience of driving the Thar, making it a more attractive option for those seeking advanced safety technologies in an off-roader.

The Mahindra Thar 5-door promises to be a significant upgrade from its predecessor, featuring a larger infotainment system, all-digital instrument cluster, enhanced safety with six airbags, and advanced driver assistance systems. These features, borrowed from Mahindra’s flagship XUV700, position the Thar 5-door as a competitive player in the off-roader market. With its launch set for August 15, it might be worth waiting for this highly anticipated SUV that promises to combine rugged capability with modern technology and safety features.
