Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB Is Set To Launch On October 9

Upon launch, the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB will take on the Audi A6 and the recently launched BMW 5 Series LWB. The new E-Class is expected to be priced around Rs 80 lakh (ex-showroom). For all the Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB lovers, its launch is confirmed on October 9, and that too in long wheelbase (LWB). Deliveries of the luxury sedan are slated to begin around Diwali this year.

The sixth-generation E-Class will be replaced with the outgoing model, which made its debut in 2017. India will be the first right-hand driven market to get the new E-Class in the LWB form. The saloon has undergone some significant changes both visually and functionally.

Exterior

The new E-Class exhibits refined elegance, starting with its distinctive front grille, accentuated by intricate chrome embellishments featuring a multitude of three-pointed stars. Sleek LED headlight clusters, a broad front fascia, and broad character lines on the hood create a subtle presence on the road.

The E-Class masterfully blends classic design elements with modern sophistication, evoking the grandeur of a Maybach-esque structure, particularly emphasised by the elegant rear quarter window glass. Robust 18-inch alloy wheels add to the sedan’s sturdy stance. Moreover, the new E-Class LWB is 13mm taller and 14mm longer than its predecessor, with a 15mm increase in wheelbase as well, taking it even closer to the S-Class.

At the rear, the E-Class boasts sleek wraparound tail lamps with star-shaped LED internal elements and a radiant chrome strip that extends above the lights. An additional touch of chrome graces the lower part of the rear bumper.

Interior Features & Dashboard

The new luxury sedan redefines in-car entertainment and comfort, boasting an array of innovative features that include a 14.4-inch central infotainment system, complemented by a dedicated 12.3-inch infotainment display for the front passenger, digital air conditioning vents with customisable settings, a premium 17-speaker, 730W Burmester sound system for, a convenient selfie camera, four-zone climate control, wireless phone chargers for both front and rear passengers, and a panoramic sunroof.

Rear seat passengers are in for a treat for unparalleled support and luxury due to an extended 40mm thigh support for enhanced comfort. Buyers can also opt for the Chauffeur Package which offers an electrically adjustable front passenger seat. Practicality is not compromised, with an impressive 510-litre boot capacity ensuring ample room for a weekend’s luggage.

Technical Specs

The new sixth-gen E-Class will continue to offer two engine options—a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol and a 2.0-litre diesel. The former kicks out 201 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque, while the latter is 194 bhp and 440 Nm of torque. Both engines are paired with a 9-speed torque converter automatic gearbox as standard. The E-Class now benefits from a 48V mild hybrid system providing an additional boost of 23 bhp and 205 Nm for 30 seconds.
