Honda as a brand is facing issues due to dwindling car sales and now with the recall of its bikes in the 300cc and 350cc range. They have issued a massive recall for its CB350 range and the CB300 range in India. Honda will recall five of its models—the CB300F, CB300R, CB350, CB350RS, and Highness CB350—for two reasons. Honda says that the recall is related to the wheel speed sensor issues and camshaft problems for the models manufactured between October 2020 and April 2024.

The wheel speed sensor issue affects five models Honda sells here: CB300F, CB300R, CB350, CB350RS, and Highness CB350. Honda has been mentioning that due to improper moulding procedure, water can seep in and cause an error in the speedo reading, which also affects the traction control system and ABS, which can lead to a potential accident.

The camshaft trouble affects the CB350, CB350RS, and the Highness CB350 because of improper manufacturing that can affect the performance of the engine. Honda has not revealed the number of affected motorcycles for both recalls but says that the camshaft-related issue affects motorcycles made between June 2024 and July 2024.

Honda will be getting in touch with customers directly via SMS, calls, and emails and requesting its customers to check the official website to see if their motorcycles are part of the recall and get in touch with the nearest service centre.

Honda will replace the faulty parts free of charge at its BigWing dealerships across India, which will apply to all affected motorcycles, regardless of their warranty status. Customers will be informed by Honda’s BigWing dealers to bring in their motorcycles for inspection and replacement of the affected part. Owners can check if their vehicle is affected by the recall by entering their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the Honda BigWing website.

Earlier, UNO Minda’s company was under scrutiny following Honda Motorcycle Scooter India’s (HMSI) announcement of a global recall of bikes sourced from the company’s Haryana plant. The value of the recalled part from UNO Minda stands at approximately Rs 3.2 crore; the expected reimbursement amount from HMSI due to this recall is estimated at Rs 76 crore. HMSI initiated the recall due to the identification of oil leakage from the engine attributed to the dislodgement of the sealing plug cone from the engine cover, a part supplied by UNO Minda’s Bawal plant in Haryana.
