Honda Rebel 300 and New 500cc Bikes Set to Launch in India Next Year

As part of its aggressive expansion strategy, Honda is gearing up to strengthen its premium motorcycle portfolio in India. The company plans to introduce the Rebel 300 and brand-new 500cc models, aiming to capture a significant share of the growing mid-capacity segment.

The Honda Rebel 300 is a well-established model in global markets and is now set to make its Indian debut. It shares its 286cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine with the CB300R but features a completely different chassis. Designed as a bobber-style cruiser, the Rebel 300 boasts a low 690mm seat height and a manageable weight of just under 170kg, making it an appealing option for riders seeking a comfortable and stylish cruiser.

Honda has already localised the CB300R to a certain extent, bringing its price down to Rs 2.40 lakh. Since the Rebel 300 is positioned lower than the CB300R in international markets, Honda could price it competitively under Rs 2.40 lakh, making it a strong alternative to Royal Enfield’s 350cc offerings and Honda’s own CB350 lineup.

In addition to the Rebel 300, Honda is working on a new India-specific 500cc motorcycle project that will result in two distinct models, currently codenamed MLHJ and MLWA. While details remain scarce, sources suggest that these models will feature a fresh engine rather than the existing 471cc parallel-twin used in Honda’s global 500cc lineup, including the NX500 sold in India.

Honda has also registered the GB500S name overseas, hinting at the possibility of a new 500cc single-cylinder motorcycle based on the CB350 H’ness platform. If this materializes, it will fill a unique gap in the market left by Royal Enfield’s discontinued UCE 500, which was phased out due to BS6 emission norms.

While Honda is actively working on these models, their launch is still some time away. The Rebel 300 and new 500cc motorcycles are expected to debut in 2026-2027, marking a significant step in Honda’s premium motorcycle strategy for India. With competitive pricing and innovative engineering, Honda aims to disrupt the mid-capacity segment and strengthen its foothold in the market.
