The MG Windsor EV is set to go on sale in the coming months and will be positioned above the Comet. The MG Windsor, the brand’s next EV, will go on sale soon. Sold as the Cloud EV in markets like Indonesia and a few others, the Indian model will have a brand new marketing name and some country-specific changes. MG has revealed the Windsor’s interior partially, giving us a hint of what to expect from its feature list.

The MG Windsor EV, set to launch soon, is positioned as a premium offering above the Comet and promises to cater to the growing demand for electric vehicles in India. With its spacious and feature-rich interior, including reclining rear seats and ample legroom, the Windsor is designed for comfort and practicality.

MG Windsor: what do the latest teasers reveal?

MG has shown the rear passenger compartment of the Windsor EV, confirming several features: rear AC vents, a three-passenger rear seat with dedicated three-point seat belts for all, a rear centre armrest, and faux leather seats with a large honeycomb pattern stitching. MG Motor India says the rear seats will recline up to 135 degrees. The teaser also shows ample rear legroom, which looks more than adequate for a 5-passenger vehicle.

The company hasn’t yet revealed specs for the India-bound Windsor, but it gets two battery pack options overseas: 37.9kWh and 50.6kWh, with ranges of 360km and 460km, respectively. These models are powered by a permanent magnet synchronous motor that produces 134hp. MG Motor India recently confirmed that the Windsor will get battery and powertrain components sourced from Indian suppliers which means power output and range could vary.

While exact specifications for the Indian market are yet to be confirmed, the inclusion of locally sourced battery and powertrain components suggests a competitive edge in both performance and pricing. The Windsor will face competition from established models like the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400 EV which is slotted for a September release.

Pricing for the EV will be under Rs 20 lakh and it will compete with models like the Tata Nexon EV, certain variants of the ZS EV and Tata’s Curvv EV, and the Mahindra XUV400 EV.
