Our sources claim that a larger battery pack option will soon be added to the MG Windsor. In addition to this significant improvement, further features are anticipated for the Windsor, which might arrive as early as next month.

Currently available in India with a 38kWh battery pack, the Windsor is sold in Indonesia under the name Wuling Cloud EV, which uses a larger 50.6kWh battery. The same battery, which has a stated 460-kilometer range on the CLTC cycle, will be used in the India-spec vehicle. The Windsor’s current 38kWh battery, for example, has an ARAI-rated range of 332 kilometers.

However, it is anticipated that the larger battery and the front-wheel-drive setup will not alter the power and torque numbers of 136 horsepower and 200 Nm. Additionally, our sources have alluded to a revised features list, with the addition of an ADAS suite serving as its centerpiece.

The Windsor performed admirably in our real-world efficiency testing, yielding an efficiency of 8.1 km/kWh and a range of 308 km, which is only 24 km less than the stated amount. As a point of comparison, the Nexon EV, which had a larger 45kWh battery, had a 350km real-world range but a lower efficiency of 7.79km/kWh. The Windsor’s range might approach 400 km with the larger battery, perhaps making it practical even for out-of-town travel.

The Windsor alone has greatly increased MG’s sales in India since its September 2024 launch. The Windsor sold 19,394 units during the seven months from September 2024 to March 2025, or more than 2,700 units per month on average. More significantly, it has continuously outsold its main competitor, the Tata Nexon EV, which was the EV market’s indisputable best-seller for a long time. Its sales will undoubtedly be greatly boosted by the larger battery. However, the ex-showroom pricing, which presently falls between Rs 14 lakh and Rs 16 lakh, should rise fairly.

The MG Windsor is expected to improve its standing in the Indian EV market thanks to its larger battery, additional amenities, and remarkable on-road performance. Although there will likely be a small price increase, expect even more attraction for city and intercity shoppers.
