Renault To Come With 5 New Products By 2027, With Up To 90% Localisation
As part of the “renault. rethink” Transformation Strategy, Renault has unveiled a new model portfolio in India as part of their updated business plan. According to the firm, the new design center opened by the French automaker in Chennai is the biggest outside of Europe.
The Renault Design Centre Chennai (RDCC), which was built with an investment of 1.5 million euros (Rs 14.68 crore), is the second Renault design studio in India, following the one that was founded in Pune in 2005. After its flagship location in Paris, the facility is Renault’s second-largest design studio worldwide.
Laurens van den Acker, the chief design officer of the Renault Group, Francisco Hidalgo, the vice president of sales and marketing for Renault India, Venkatram Mamillapalle, the CEO and MD of Renault India, and Julien Sabatier, the leader of the India design studio, officially opened the new studio. This new facility, which spans 15,000 square meters, will be in charge of creating new automobiles for the Indian market as well as other global markets like Europe.
By April 2027, Renault intends to introduce five new models in India, including both brand-new and updated versions of its current lineup. Additionally, the business affirmed that a sunroof will be an option on all future models. The upgraded Kiger and Triber models, a locally produced electric car, and B- and C-segment SUVs like the next-generation Duster and a 7-seater variant will all be part of the new lineup.
The third-generation Duster is scheduled to debut in 2026, as previously stated, and the seven-seater model will follow soon after. Both SUVs will be based on the 2021-debuting Dacia Bigster concept. Renault also debuted a 3D sculpture at the event, which we believe is a sneak peek at the next generation Duster.
Based on the CMF-A platform, one of Renault’s next EVs is probably going to be a highly customised Dacia Spring EV. In India, the ICE variant of the Dacia Spring is now known as the Renault Kwid, for those who are unaware. In India, the all-electric variant will probably be referred to as the Kwid EV. Significant design changes and improved interiors are also anticipated for the upcoming Kiger and Triber models.
