Tata Motor’s Nexon EV Arrives With A Facelift, Booking To Begin

Tata’s Nexon EV comes to the market with a facelift. The Tata Motors calls the facelifted Nexon fearless and futuristic. The booking begins on September 9, which is also the world EV day; the booking amount is Rs. 21,000, reported the mint.

The new Tata Nexon EV would arrive with improvement in design and technology. With a gen-2 motor, and extended operational features, the SUV is capable of moving upto 16,000rpm in comparison to the earlier 12,000rpm. Nexon is capable of striking a106.4 kW (142.6 bhp) and a peak torque of 215 Nm at the wheels. This is a significant broadening of a flat torque curve by an addition of 750 rpm, which would give a more consistent performance. The Mint, in its report said that, Nexon can accelerate form 0-100 kmph in 8.9 seconds and can go upto a speed level of 150kmph, earlier it was 120 knph. The SUV spots a curvv concept design which is similar to its older petrol, diesel version.

With the ‘Nexon way ahead’ as the tagline in its advertisement, it comes with highlighted features like, Bi functional full LED lamp, Sequential LED DRLS, Dual tone roof, R16 alloy wheels with aero inserts, X factor tail lamps with welcome and goodbye function, 2 spoke steering wheel with illuminated logo, next gen capacitive touch panel, grand floor console with leatherette armrest and a three-tone dashboard with leatherette mid pad.

The EV variants are long-range and mid-range, with the long-range variant offering a range of 465 kms, which is a 12 kms difference from the earlier model. The mid-range version of Nexon EV has a single charge range of 325 kms, which is an addition of 13 kms from its earlier version.

This time, the noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) parameters are further smoothened. Along with the lowest rolling resistance tires in the car segment, Nexon brings in regeneration through paddle shifters which has an improved efficiency of 10-15 percent.

Nexon EV medium range has a charging feature of 7.2 kW, which was an exclusive of the Max version. With an V2L (Vehicle to Load) and V2V (Vehicle to vehicle) charging capabilities, it is said to achieve a full charge in 56 minutes with a fast charger.

The additional features are, automatic climate control with Xpress cooling and an auto defogger. The SUV, on the safety mechanisms, is equipped with six airbags, ISOFIX anchorages, as well as standard ABS and ESP. as for the camera, nexon has a 360-degree camera system with sensors both at the front and rear end, with seatbelt reminders for all occupants and with parking assistance.

Keeping to the AIS038 standards and SIL C compliance, the battery pack maintains its IP67 protection, there would be Continuous telematics scan which is a critical parameter of the e-SUV. More features include standard emergency and breakdown calls, hill descent control, hill ascent control, panic brake alert, auto vehicle hold, and i-TPMS, the mint said.

The updated 10.25-inch screen is backed by a robust processor, which would enhance the audio-visual experience in the SUV. The screen is 45 percent larger than the earlier 7-inch unit. The new Nexon EV also owns a 320-watt Harman-sourced JBL sound system, along with five speakers, and a digital console which can display navigation.

Moreover, it comes in bold variants and sober shades of fearless purple, creative ocean, flame red, Daytona grey, pure grey, Calgary white and pristine white bodies.
