Tata Motors Will Launch New Sierra And Sierra EV Between August And September

Tata Motors is finishing up the Sierra EV, its next electric SUV, as it prepares to introduce the Harrier EV to the market in the upcoming weeks. Tata declared a few years ago that the Sierra moniker would be used again for both electric and combustion powertrains.

A pre-production model of the Sierra was first shown as a concept at the 2020 Auto Expo and later this year at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo. There have been several recent sightings of the SUV’s test mules. We barely know anything about its internal design, but we already know a lot about its exterior.

Tata Motors has now submitted patent applications to the Ministry of Commerce & Industry for a center console and a dashboard. The center console tunnel is entirely different from the current generation of Tata models, even if the dashboard design is comparable to the new Tata car line.

A well-known dashboard design with a central touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital driver’s display, and elegant horizontal air conditioning vents is revealed in the patent. and the new four-spoke steering wheel from Tata that has a lighted screen with the company’s emblem on it. A centrally located speaker complements the dashboard’s elegant, tiered form that cascades downhill, which was carried over from the concept model.

Since Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, an EV subsidiary of Tata Motors, submitted the center console patent, it is most likely to be saved for use in upcoming EVs. Along with a wireless charging station, a sliding armrest, and plenty of storage space for trinkets and cup holders, it still has the floating style. The remaining interior details are still unknown.

The Tata Sierra is also anticipated to come equipped with a panoramic sunroof, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, linked car technologies, voice-activated functions, and auto climate control. Six airbags, a 360-degree camera, and a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System with features like automated emergency braking, lane-keep assistance, and lane-change assistance will all contribute to safety.

Both ICE and EV versions of the Tata Sierra will be offered. Both gasoline and diesel engine options will be offered for the former. This comprises the well-known 2.0-liter Kryotec diesel engine that powers the Harrier and Safari, as well as a brand-new 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine that produces 168 horsepower and 280 Nm. This unit can produce a maximum torque of 350 Nm and 168 horsepower. Both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic will probably be available as transmission options. The Sierra EV’s powertrain specifications are still unclear.
