Tata Harrier EV To Launch On June 3 With Single Charge Range Of 500km
Tata Motors will launch the Harrier EV on June 3. Four months after displaying the production-spec Harrier EV at the 2025 Auto Expo in January, the Indian automaker has confirmed the launch date and has been releasing teasers on a regular basis ever since.
The Tata EV and the diesel Harrier facelift share a lot of similarities in appearance. Below the blade-like DRLs, which are joined by a full-width light bar, are still vertically stacked LED headlights. Swollen wheel arches and the rising window line blending with the thick, blacked-out D pillar to create a floating roof illusion are also common in profile. The same is true of the vertical fog lamp housings positioned on the bumper and the rear part of the forthcoming electric car, which houses a connected light bar.

Notable features include a sealed-off upper grille and a chrome-trimmed air dam on the front bumper that resembles a Curvv EV and neatly houses the radar sensor. Although the size range for the aero-efficient “serrated turbine blade wheels” has not been disclosed by Tata, 17–19 inch possibilities are anticipated. The model is further distinguished by the “.EV” insignia on the front doors and the “HARRIER.EV” inscription on the tailgate. For contrast, the body cladding is done in silver.
Tata released a teaser video of the Harrier EV’s interior in March, and it was clear that it shared many similarities with the regular Harrier that is now for sale. For example, touch-based HVAC controls and a two-tone dashboard have been retained. The Tata EV’s digital instrument cluster, four-spoke steering wheel, and floating touchscreen resembling the Harrier were also included in the teaser. This also applies to the electronic parking brake activator, panoramic sunroof, and the rotary dial for terrain modes, which is still located in the center console. Additionally, the Harrier EV will have over-the-air updates, connected car capabilities, and additional terrain modes.

It is based on the same Omega platform as the Harrier ICE; the soon-to-be-released Harrier is not a completely different electric vehicle. This platform has been significantly altered for electrification, though. Tata refers to it as Acti.ev (Gen 2) architecture, which includes chassis modifications, a redesigned floor to accommodate the battery, and an electrical and electronics (E&E) framework. Tata uses a similar strategy with the Punch ICE, whose Alfa base has been completely redesigned for the electric vehicle.
It would have required significant re-engineering and significant expense to equip the Harrier diesel with front-wheel drive with an all-wheel drive system, primarily to add a rear driveshaft. However, the addition of an electric engine at the back makes AWD easier to accomplish with the all-electric Harrier SUV.
