Ahead of the May 22 price announcement, Tata Motors has released the first teaser for the upcoming Altroz makeover. Since going on sale in January 2020, the high-end hatchback hasn’t seen a cosmetic upgrade; however, it has occasionally been updated with additional equipment and powertrain options. The Altroz is anticipated to maintain its mechanical integrity despite a revised design and additional interior comforts.
The facelift’s heavily altered fascia is hinted at in the teaser film. The headlamps’ split arrangement has been kept, but they are now fully LED units, and they also have a new LED daytime running lamp trademark that resembles a brow. In addition to a new grille design, the bumper has been redesigned with new vertical recesses for the fog lamp housing.

The Altroz has new T-shaped LED taillamps on the back, which are joined by an LED light bar. It also has new flush-fitting, LED door handles and a dual-tone rear bumper that looks considerably sportier. Additionally, the alloy wheels have a new EV-like appearance, and additional colour possibilities are anticipated.
Although Tata hasn’t yet shown us the interior, we anticipate a redesigned dashboard with new soft-touch materials and upholstery colour options. Currently only available with the Racer model, the larger 10.25-inch touchscreen will eventually be available in additional variants. It will also be equipped with a 360-degree camera and a new digital instrument cluster.
Up to five powertrain options are now available for the Altroz. The base model is a 1.2-litre gasoline engine with 88 horsepower and a 5-speed manual and 6-speed dual-clutch auto gearbox; other options include a 90-hp 1.5-litre diesel engine and a 73.5-hp factory-fit CNG variant.

The sole gearbox available for the CNG- and diesel-powered Altroz is a 5-speed manual. In the meantime, the Tata Nexon and the top-spec Altroz Racer use the same 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine with 120 horsepower and a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The Hyundai i20, Toyota Glanza, and Maruti Suzuki Baleno will all be competitors of the upgraded Altroz when it launches. Compact SUVs have been gaining ground on the premium hatchback market, with Altroz’s monthly sales now averaging around 2,000 units, down from a peak of roughly 5,000 units in FY2021-22. Sales may be boosted by the impending revamp.
