Honda Cars India has officially announced the launch date for the all-new Amaze which is going to be the third-generation compact sedan. It will debut on December 4th. Honda had recently teased the upcoming model, showcasing a significant shift from the conservative design of the second-generation Amaze, which was introduced in 2018. The new Amaze features looks more modern and upmarket.

Exteriors and Interiors

The competition in the compact sedan segment is heating up. There is a beeline of launches right from the new Maruti Suzuki Dzire on November 11, followed by the Honda Amaze in December. Based on the partial reveal of the new Amaze showcased in the teaser, its front design looks very similar to the Honda Civic and Accord models. The car features a honeycomb grille prominently displaying the ‘Big H’ logo in the centre along with sleek LED headlights which are connected by a chrome strip that runs above the grille. The clamshell bonnet features adds to its aggressive character lines, giving the vehicle a more imposing road presence.

At the same time, Honda is secreative about the rest of the design elements of the new Amaze. It could take a sleek and sloping roofline like the Civic and the Accord, but being a mass-market vehicle, it’s expected to stick to the typical three-box sedan design.

The new Amaze will have a completely new cabin, which could be more similar to the City or the Elevate. It could get dual-tone interiors with a bigger infotainment system, an all-new instrument console and features like wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, wireless phone charger and a single-panel sunroof. When it comes to safety, Honda Amaze could offer features like 6-airbags, ABS with EBD, parking sensors, a 360-degree camera and hill hold assist.

Technical Specs

However, the new Amaze model will only be available in petrol and features a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine that produces 88 bhp and 110 Nm of torque. This new sedan is expected to retain the same powertrain and will offer two transmission options: a 5-speed manual and a CVT. It will be interesting to see if Honda introduces a CNG variant of the Amaze due to the rising popularity of CNG vehicles. The new Amaze will rival against the all-new Maruti Suzuki Dzire, the Tata Tigor, and the Aura which are an already popular sedans in the automotive market.
